Oneside Touring Blog #13: December 3rd, 2008; Hartford, CT at The Half Door

I'm back!

It took me a while to get these up since things were so busy with the holidays and all! I'll try my hardest to update more often now that things are settled with with Christmas and tomorrow is New Years Eve! The guys are playing a show in Maryland, I couldn't make it down with them so I hope they have/had an amazing time. :]

Anyway, for this blog we are back at the Half Door in Hartford, Connecticut. We made it there just in time for the guys to load in, sound check, and play. The place was packed when we got there, especially pretty packed for a Wednesday. (the 2 dollar Irish drafts that night might have had something to do with it, but I'm betting they came for their Oneside fix also ;) ). There were some people there who had been there previously when the band had played here, and they were really excited to see the show!

And here are some pictures from the night!

My merch set-up. Oohhhh ahh!

Writing the set-list before the show.

Grafton clearly wraps cables better than anyone else.

That's all for now! Stay tuned for a Vermont blog, coming ASAP! :)

Thanks for reading!

Oneside Touring Blog #12: November 7th, 2008; Northampton, MA at WWII Club

The place that the band played at tonight was pretty cool (and close to home, yay!). It was part function hall, part bar, with a hallway that had bathrooms connecting the two. The guys played in the function hall room, with another band opening for them called Appalachian Still. More about them later. :)

There was plenty of space for everything tonight as far as merch goes, and I even got to use the banners from the release party again! They make the table look so sharp!

Before the guys played, they hung out. They shot some pool, ate some pizza, then hung around and watched the openers. Here are some candid shots of some pre-show action:

And here are some show pictures! :)

Hahahaha Chris!

Once the show was over, music was still in the air! Members of Appalachian Still as well as Chris (and later Ned) played some acoustic sets together!

They started in the corner, but people who stuck around wanted to watch them, so they decided to get on stage.

This was where Ned decided to join them and sing. :)

Last but not least, we sat around a table and had another jam session. :)

Such a fun night!

Oneside Touring Blog #11: November 1st, 2008; Burlington, VT at Red Square

The Red Square in Vermont was a cute little place that had a very nice atmosphere to it! It was actually located right near Ri-Ra. We were really crunched for time that night and running late, but got there just in time to set up and go! There aren't really many details from this night for the trip there, so I guess we'll just get right to the pictures! :)

My merch set-up!

The Group! The stage was kind of awkward where it was placed, so it was kind of hard to be standing there taking pictures because you were in everyone's way it seemed!

Ned. He decided he likes the jacket look! Snazzy, eh? :)

Grafton. Although not at the best angle. But like I said, pictures were kind of difficult here!

Jake. I love this shot!

Hahahah Chris!

A cool shot from behind the band!

And now since we don't have a chicken sandwich review for this night again, it's time for "Who's Sleeping In The Van This Week?"!!

Except he wasn't really asleep when I took this picture. He was about to be. He got comfy against the van window and he was just too comfy to not capture this moment. We stopped to use the bathroom before we left, and even people on the street were noting how comfy he looked in there! They were jealous and wanted to buy the van! Haha. :)

Here's a video of "Into The Night" as a closer!:

Oh and also, I met a man and a woman there who said they read the blog, so I wanted to give them a shoutout! I hope you guys enjoyed the band and hopefully we will see you again soon. Thanks for your support! :) It was nice talking with you guys!

That's all for this blog! Check out the band: www.onesidemusic.com

xo until next time!

Oneside Touring Blog #10: October 31st, 2008; Hartford, CT at The Half Door

The Half Door in Hartford, CT was hosting the band's special Halloween show! The weather was much better this time around! If you've been reading the blog, then you know the last time we were at this venue there was torrential rain coming through which made things much more difficult. And if you don't know or remember this experience, just scroll down! The pictures were quite amusing from that night. This blog will probably top that one though, considering we were all decked out in costumes!

I know that's what you came to see, the amusing pictures from the night! :) We had some dinner and got to bringing all the gear in and getting everything ready. I usually have pictures of just the show, but I decided to start documenting more of the process!

The sweet sign advertising the show!

Grafton loading some gear in. Doesn't he look excited?!

Setting up the gear.

A candid shot!

That's pretty much it for pre-show visuals! People had all kinds of amazing costumes, and they were ready to dance. The guys opened the show with Ghostbusters, which was pretty amazing, especially considering there was a man there dressed as a ghostbuster! Here's a video of them opening with that song:

Amazing, right?!

Others had costumes like Amy Winehouse, Cartman and Lucy from South Park, Greek Godesses, etc. My personal favorite was a man dressed as Turd Ferguson. The guys always joke around that character so I guess that made it that much funnier that someone actually dressed up as him. There was actually a contest that the band judged, and the person who won got a pair of skis. The person who won was a man dressed as the second amendment, the right to bare arms. He literally just had fur up his arms. Quite creative, eh?

Here are some pictures from the performance:

Grafton dressed as Pooh. Aww!

Ned dressed as dead Buddy Holly.

Jake just ended up being himself.

Father Chris. :)

Group shot!

Dancing! :)

Another group shot at a fun, funky angle!

And of course the best shot of the night that I will close this blog entry with, our group shot! :

We make quite the bunch, don't we? hahahah. :)

Such a fun night!

Stay tuned for more, and check out the band!

Oneside Touring Blog #9: October 24th, 2008; Camden, ME at Gilberts

It was back to Gilbert's in Camden, Maine tonight! The place was extra crowded tonight since there was a tech convention down the street and all of the visitors were looking for cool places to hang out. A lot of them were drawn to Gilbert's and the fun everyone was having with Oneside! I got to meet a lot of interesting people from all over that night, as well as saw some of the regulars.

We got there early enough to play a few games of ping pong again, and up first were Jake and Grafton.

After they played, a man played in a really intense game with Grafton (since he was the winner). So intense, that I didn't even stop to take pictures of it, now that I think of it! Jake and I were just standing there watching, wondering what would happen next. I honestly forget who won that game, but it was fun to watch for sure! Maybe next time I'll take a ping pong video! It'll be like a tour diary. That could be a fun idea! What do you guys think?

Once ping pong was over, it was time for the band to take the stage, and they got the crowd dancing instantly. The best part of the night was toward the end, there was an older gentleman dancing and he came over to me, grabbed my arm, and said "if I have a heart attack, call my doctor in New York!" then he grinned and said "I can't think of a better way to go!" then went right back on to dancing. Definitely a good laugh! He made it through the night, in case you were wondering. :P

Here are some pictures from the band's performance!

My merch set-up. OOOOOHHH AHHHHH! :)

Chris.

Ned.

Jake.

Grafton.

Jake and Grafton. (such a cute pic!)

And the band!

People really dug them, and many of the bar regulars had said they never saw the band before there and didn't understand why, but also said that they would be coming back next time they came around!

No chicken sandwich review! I have a feeling that will be phased out soon, with the rate we are going with those. We'll just have to find something to replace it with. Maybe "who's sleeping in the van this week?"

Awwww Ned! (He is going to kill me for this but he Grafton thought we needed a picture of this, and I of course had to agree!)

This Friday the band will be playing in Hartford, CT for a special Halloween show! Stay tuned to the blog, you know the pictures from that night will be outrageous! :)

And if you haven't already, check out the band!

About Me

Music is my passion in life. It's the one thing I can do with my heart and soul 100%. The atmosphere of a live show is like nothing else for me, really. I love being around like-minded people because I feel like we understand each other better then anyone else. You dig? :) Cheers!
